The herbicide symptomology page contains 1000+ images and includes a range of plant types, herbicide families, and stages of development of the symptomology. The images are primarily from the herbicide symptomology workshop that has been held on the Arkansas State University campus since 1997. The design is that the symptomology images are arranged by plant group and then divided into the various modes of action. The specific images are labeled with the plant type, the general mode-of action, and either the common or trade name of the specific herbicide. An example of this would be as follows: Cotton-als-imazethapyr would be an ALS inhibitor (in this case imazethapyr or Newpath or Pursuit) on cotton. Also, images outside of the crop group are typically at a ‘drift’ rate which is defined as 10% of the normal use rate. Several images of an untreated control are also included for some of the plant types. These images are not copyrighted and as such can be used freely for educational or informational purposes. Partial funding for this project is through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region VI and the Arkansas State Plant Board. Support has also been received from the Arkansas Crop Protection Association and various private companies. The material is also considered to be a part of the educational mission of the Arkansas Crop Protection Association. ERRATA Under garden crops: Eggplant-gr-quinclorac02.jpg is mislabeled and should be labeled as 2,4-D. Pepper-gr-quinclorac-02.jpg is actually a potato and not a pepper as labeled. If any questions about labeling are encountered, please submit an email to cshumway@astate,edu.
