SCHOLARSHIPS IN THE COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE
The College of Agriculture has a number of scholarship
opportunities for its students. Most are available to any student
on a degree plan within the College of Agriculture. However, several
are specific to major and for location. All scholarships are for
full-time students and attending the ASU Jonesboro campus.

Golightly Freshman Scholarship
1. Have either an ACT score of 23 or be in the upper
12% of their high school
class rank
2. Must be enrolled within a degree plan within
the College of Agriculture
3. Awards are generally $500 per academic year
($250/semester)
[Note: You must have a minimum
of 2.00 GPA at the end of the first semester
to receive the balance
of your scholarship.]
General Freshman Scholarship
1. Must have an ACT score of 19 or above
2. Must be enrolled within a degree plan within
the College of Agriculture
3. Awards are generally $500 per academic year
($250/semester)
[Note: You must have a minimum
of 2.00 GPA at the end of the first semester
to receive the balance
of your scholarship.]
Jim Sloan Memorial
Scholarship
1. Major in Agriculture
2. Must have an ACT of 25 or top 10% of their graduating
class or National
Merit semifinalist
3. Preference to students from Northeast Arkansas
4. Renewable for four years; must maintain a 3.25
GPA (If not, the scholarship
is suspended for 1 semester.
If 3.25 GPA is regained by the end of the
semester, scholarship is reinstated.)
5. Award is $2400 per academic year ($1200/semester)
John
H. Neely and Irene N. Neely Plant Science Scholarship
1. Must major in Plant Science
2. Preference given to Jonesboro and West Poinsett
county area (Harrisburg,
Weiner, Waldenburg, and Fisher)
3. Financial need can be considered
4. Award is $3000 per academic year ($1500/semester)
and can be renewed
through the senior year.
Must maintain a minimum 3.00 GPA to keep
the scholarship.
G. Robert Blanchard
Scholarship
1. Must be a full-time sophomore or junior majoring
in Agriculture
2. Minimum GPA of 2.75
3. Exhibit academic promise (Campus leadership
and extracurricular activities are
a significant criteria.)
4. Award is $1000 per academic year ($500/semester)
and
is renewable (not automatic)
Golightly
Upper Level Agricultural Scholarship
1. Must be a full-time sophomore or junior majoring
in Agriculture
2. Minimum GPA of 3.00
3. Financial need is a major consideration
4. Award is variable; typically $750 per academic
year ($375/semester)
Farm
Credit Services of Eastern Arkansas
1. Must be pursuing a degree plan in Agriculture
2. Parents or close relative must be a stockholder of
the Federal Land Bank or a Farm Credit Association from the following counties:
Clay, Cross, Crittenden, Craighead, Greene, Lee, Mississippi, Phillips, Poinsett
or St. Francis
3. Award is $500 per academic year
Harry E. Beasley Memorial Scholarship
1. Must be pursuing a degree plan in Agriculture
2. Parents or close relative must be a stockholder of
the Federal Land Bank or a Farm Credit Association from the following counties:

2. Criteria includes an ACT score above 21 and
rank in the upper half of your
Arkansas high school graduating

3. Award is $2500 per academic year
Arkansas
Chapter of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural
Appraisers Scholarship
1. Pursuing a degree within the College of Agriculture,
preference given to
Agricultural Business majors
2. Selection based on academics and service
3. Open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors
4. Award is $500 per academic year
Busch
Agricultural Resources, Inc. Scholarship
1. Must be pursuing a degree in Agricultural Business
or a closely related field
2. Junior or Senior status with a GPA of 3.00 or
above
3. Recipient should be from a rice growing area
of either Missouri, Arkansas,
Texas, Mississippi, or Louisiana
4. Meet all other scholarship requirements within
the College of Agriculture
5. Award is $500 per academic year
Allied
Industries Scholarship
1. For freshmen, requirements include an ACT of 19
or above or in the upper
25% of your high school graduating
class. For students already enrolled it is
based on GPA and service to
the university or community
2. Preference given to individuals interested in
poultry science
Arkansas
Agricultural Consultants Scholarship
1. Full-time sophomore, junior, or senior majoring
in Agriculture with a
preference to agronomy or a
closely related field of study
2. Must have a GPA of 2.50 and committed to a career
in Agriculture
3. Normal award to recipient is $1000 per academic
year
Ruel Nester Scholarship
Sponsored by the Arkansas Crop Protection Association
1. Junior or senior pursuing a degree in the College
of Agriculture
2. Majoring in agronomy, horticulture, entomology,
or plant pathology
3. Academics, leadership, participation in extracurricular
activities, and financial
need are considered
4. Scholarship is for 1 year, but recipient may
reapply
5. Award varies, but is normally greater than $1000
per year
Arkansas
Plant Food Educational Society Scholarship
1. Pursuing a degree in the College of Agriculture
2. Majoring in Plant Science with an emphasis in
agronomy
committed to a career in Agriculture
3. Minimum GPA of 2.50
4. Award is $2000 per academic year ($1000/semester)
Arkansas Seed Dealer
Association
1. Junior or senior with a major in the College of
Agriculture
2. Must have a minimum GPA of 2.50
3. Preference given to applicants interested in
the seed industry
4. Normal award is $500 per academic year
