PROGRAM OF STUDY FOR THE
MASTER OF SCIENCE IN AGRICULTURE DEGREE
WITH A MAJOR IN AGRICULTURE

Admission Requirements:
Students seeking admission to this College of Agriculture graduate program must have at least a 2.5 GPA overall or a 2.75 on the last 60 hours of undergraduate work.

Core courses required of all MSA candidates:

1.     One of the Following:

·         AGRI 5233, Experimental Agricultural Statistics OR

      AGRI 6213, Experimental Designs OR

      Any Graduate Level Statistics course 

2.     One of the following three (to be determined by adviser and approved by graduate student committee):

o  PSSC 6803, Soil and Crop Production

o  AGEC 6003, Advanced Agricultural Marketing

o  AGRI 6203, Intermediary Metabolism

3.     All the Following Graduate Seminars (Must be take in sequence):

o    AGRI 6351, Graduate Seminar, Research Orientation (Must be taken during the first semester)

o    AGRI 6361, Graduate Seminar, Grant Proposals

o    AGRI 6371, Graduate Seminar, Final Research Project 

Courses in the major field:

·         Each student, with the approval of the faculty adviser, may select courses leading to specialized training in agricultural business and economics, animal science or plant science.

Thesis or Non-Thesis Option:

Six hours of the total hours required of a degree may be thesis or three hours of the total hours required of a degree may be non-thesis. 

·         1. Thesis Option: Six (6) credit hours of Thesis.

·         2.  Non-Thesis Option: Three (3) hours of Non-Thesis Research Experience (AGRI 6393) AND three hours of elective coursework

Minimum hours required for this program: 30
