LANDSCAPE PLANT MATERIALS

I. Class Meeting Times: MW 1:00 - 2:50pm (Class will be conducted on the ASU campus or in the county. No cancellation of class due to weather. Dress appropriately.)

II. Textbook: Manual of Woody Landscape Plants by Michael A. Dirr, 5th Ed. Required

III. Lecture and Labs: Each of you will be responsible for all materials covered in lecture, outside reading material, and class handouts. Projects, reports, and papers, etc, will be given when deemed necessary, and I expect each of you to attend every class, unless prior arrangement is made with the instructor.

IV. Examinations: There will be 1 lecture exam given during the semester, 7 ID quizzes and 3 character quizzes. Tentative dates are listed on the class outline.
 

V.  Grading: Your grade will be based on your exams, class assignments, reading assignments, reports and class attendance.

*****NO MAKE-UP EXAMS WILL BE ALLOWED WITHOUT PRIOR INSTRUCTOR APPROVAL OR VERIFIABLE EMERGENCIES. All assignments are due at the beginning of the class period indicated by the instructor, otherwise deductions of one letter grade per day will be made for assignments handed in late.
The Academic Integrity Policy from the Arkansas State University Student's Handbook will be enforced (pg. 25-26).

VI. Office hours: My office is 219C Agricultural Bldg., phone number 972-2087. My office hours this semester are by appointment, but am normally in my office in the mornings. I have an open door policy, so feel free to stop by my office or make an appointment.

VII. Course Objectives and Topics: This course is designed to familiarize students with ornamental trees, shrubs, groundcovers, perennials and annuals with identification and use as the primary objectives.
Supplies Needed: 3 ring binder for factsheets; 3 ring binder/ for project; recommended -clipboard for outdoor class journey
*No tobacco products used during class time.
